University of Delaware
My education in Environmental Science at the University of Delaware provided the foundation upon which every experience that followed would be built. More than a degree, it offered a framework for understanding the world as an interconnected system—one in which ecology, geology, chemistry, physics, biology, history, culture, and human behavior all influence one another.
Throughout my studies, I explored a wide range of environmental topics, from ecosystem dynamics and conservation to climate science, water resources, and environmental policy. The curriculum challenged me to think critically, ask thoughtful questions, and recognize that environmental issues rarely exist in isolation. Every answer seemed to reveal another layer of complexity, deepening both my curiosity and my respect for the natural world.
What I valued most was the interdisciplinary nature of the field. While rooted in the sciences, environmental studies also required an understanding of people—their histories, cultures, values, and relationships with the land. It taught me that solving environmental challenges demands not only scientific knowledge, but empathy, communication, and a willingness to view issues from multiple perspectives.
Looking back, those years were profoundly formative. College was not simply a place where I gained knowledge; it was where I learned how to learn. It cultivated the habits of observation, inquiry, and lifelong curiosity that continue to guide me today. The concepts I studied in the classroom became lenses through which I could better understand the landscapes, communities, and ecosystems I would later encounter in the field.
Perhaps most importantly, my education confirmed that I had chosen a path that aligned with both my interests and my values. I am deeply grateful to have studied a subject that inspires me, challenges me, and connects so closely to the work I hope to continue throughout my life. Environmental science gave me more than technical knowledge—it gave me purpose, direction, and a meaningful way to contribute to a future I care deeply about.
